The Jefferson city council at its July 12 meeting amended the policy for the use of funds generated by the hotel/motel tax to allow time for applications for funds in the policy’s third tier to be made after the amount of funds available is known. “Up for grabs” this year is $26,000 to promote tourism and convention business in the city of Jefferson. The nonprofit associated with Wild Rose Jefferson Monday donated $900,354 to a host of causes and organizations in the region.

Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation, the nonprofit that holds the casino license for Wild Rose Jefferson, made its first distributions within a wide geographic reach around Jefferson, including each contiguous county--Boone, Calhoun, Carroll, Dallas, Guthrie and Webster. The donated $900,354 represents a partial year of operation, as the casino has only been open for nine months. Read more »

The city council at its regular meeting Sept. 22 authorized city administrator Mike Palmer and city attorney Bob Schwarzkopf to enter into a purchase agreement on the retail building at 111 E.
