Hardin Hilltop Wind turbines about ready to go operational

The seven huge wind turbines that compose the Hardin Hilltop Wind complex three miles north of Jefferson will soon start turning and producing electricity, maybe as early as this week.

Bill Sutton, a co-leader of the project, said this past weekend that the only remaining step is to install the software that controls the pitch of the blades, based on wind speed and wind direction readings taken by the weather stations on top of each turbine.
